Digital Pre-press Services
Getting images to look their best in a magazine using CMYK inks is challenging. There is a huge difference between an RGB image as seen on a light box, in a scan, or on a monitor and the same image printed in the magazine. It takes experience, a critical eye, a proper set up, and a complete understanding of the process to get the best reproduction possible. Showing accurate examples on a computer monitor is impossible because of the limits of technology.
The best we can do is have you look at some of the titles that we work on. Judge the quality of these images yourself. Look for details in the dark areas, realistic flesh tones on people, images that are neither too much or too little of one hue. We will happily meet with you to dicsuss the digital pre-press process and how we can make the images in your publication look the best possible.
We can scan any conventionally-sized film or print. A 35mm slide can be scanned so that it will print over 22 inches wide at 300 dpi, which is large enough to run a full spread in most magazines. Since we make it a priority to work closely with your printer, we are able to tailor your scans so that they reproduce their best. If you work with supplied digital images, we are still able to adjust the file so that it is aligned with your press requirements and gives you the best reproduction possible. We calibrate our entire system to match the printing press that you use. While many printing presses claim they can do digital pre-press imaging, in reality it is a lot more complicated that just clicking a button in a software program.
